Option to Toggle List Drop Down in Search

We've included a "fuzzy filter" control/variable within our app, and upon selecting the input box, a list appears that worsens the UX (Mobile specific). The intention is to have, upon clicking into the input box, the user search up a name from the keyboard rather than through a list function, and then have this search apply to relevant cards.

Has anyone solved for this in other ways? Thinking this could be beneficial to have a toggle for whether or not a list drops down.
