In the analyzer filter on all time minus the running period

I feel the date filters are missing an option. I can choose "previous" and then choose "last X period", but that includes the running period. So if I am showing quarters, I want to show all time data, except for the current quarter (or week or day or whatever the interval is set to). Of course, I can set it static, but I want it to update to the current quarters as soon as the next quarter starts (no manual intervention when time progresses). There are options to show for instance "last year", but that only shows the last year and not "all" past years. I saw that something similar has been asked like 7 years or so ago, am I missing something or should it be implemented by now?
