We ended up just loading app components in to the app that displayed for the user and passed the values displayed associated with an object in the app component into the workflow in case someone else comes across this. It's possible but we didn't find a way similar to get Executor

Agreed - it's so frustrating to set up a whole slew of cards and pages in an app and then tediously click through each card's details to limit drilling to final grid
