Yes please!

Thanks @GrantSmith, I enjoyed the presentation that you were a part of too. No, we're not using Workbench. We've got a handful of jobs in Workbench where we generate an Excel file (out of 4D), and dump it to disk. These go back years, we're not adding any more of those. Most of our data comes via Postgres, where we can…

Nice one!

Mind. Blown. Jae, that was excellent. I'm not exaggerating when I say that you've just radically shifted my feelings about Domo. Thanks for organizing that session, and thanks for sharing the link. Domo's attitude about discoverable-but-undocumented APIs is outstanding. I had no idea...I'm so used to corporate attitudes…

Thanks @jaeW_at_Onyx , as always. I'm waiting for the dust to settle after Domopalooza, and then will circle back and try everything again. (Waiting on Magic 2.0 at the moment.) I've got your information added to my list. Which is mostly other information from you ;-)
-
@bdavis , thanks for the information, much appreciated. I'm currently waiting to see if we can get the Magic ETL 2.0 beta, and UPSERT on SQL DataFlows beta enabled. From there, I think that I'll revisit everything again, including the APIs.
-
Thanks a lot, Jae has been helping me out too, and I've ben getting some great info from his videos. I'm on Sydney time, so not sure about times, but...hopefully!
-
@Mark , thanks for the answer. I'm checking into getting access to Magic ETL 2.0, it sounds quite good. Are there some docs on Adrenaline Dataflows? I feel like I'm missing a lot of information somewhere about subjects including Adrenaline. Thanks again!

I just finished your tutorial video, and it is fantastic. You explained more in 15 minutes than I've been able to figure out by hunting through the docs and such for hours. Thanks! Highly recommended.

Yeah, my role is more in PostgresLand, where architectural choices are...many. That, I understand. Domo's internals, not so much. My instinct for some time has been to use Postgres for pre-processing digest/rollup/summary data for Domo. That doesn't always suit because you lose whatever level of granularity you summarize…

Very cool, thanks a lot. The T-SQL...and you hated Magic at first perked my ears up. I tried out Magic 1.0, and think that it's the most impressive visual programming tool that I've ever seen. But I hate it ;-) Not really, super impressed, I'm just happier to write the code. To see that you've become a Believer with Magic…

And thanks for the video link, looks interesting! I'll check it out in the AM.

Thanks for the answer. I think that you're on UTC+0, and I'm on UTC+10, so it's getting later here... Hoping to check out Magic 2.0. I'm a bit surprised to hear that what I'm asking isn't a straightforward question, but, actually, maybe that makes sense. Architecture <> Mechanics. But, speaking of mechanics, I'd just like…

Thanks, here too, for the quick answer. I'm in a rediscovering-features-and-options mode, as I'm working out some architecture for the next 18 months. And with my Domo feature set knowledge years out-of-date, I'm trying to see what's in the box, and to think outside of the box a bit ;-) In this case, I have no specific…

Thanks for the quick answer. I realize tat it's been three years since I last looked at the Domo feature set comprehensively. Domo is part of our analytics pipeline, as is Postgres. I figure that I should get my head around the currently available options for planning purposes. So, I'm exploring capabilities. In the…

Thanks for the answer, and the questions. I was just looking at your Complete Guide to Recursive DataFlows in MagicETL piece, thanks! It's been 2-3 years since I last had a good look at Domo's features, and it seems that a ton of great stuff has been added. I'm going to check out the CLI toolset too. In our case, we're…
-
@MarkSnodgrass Thanks for the suggestion and links, I'll check this out. It's been a couple of years since I did a review of Domo's features, looks like there are a lot more options now. @GrantSmith Thanks to you too, the Workbench 5 strategy looks pretty good. In our case, we in the process of decommissioning Workbench,…

I got pinged on this as I started the question about three years ago. Not re-reading everything, but what we've done is to add to versions of the same timestamp in different columns. Think of them as event_local_timestamp and event_utc_timestamp. Sometimes, you want local clock time, like "how busy is each location in the…
-
Thanks for the follow-up, you don't come across as defensive at all. We're working in different contexts, as you point out. Your points sound well-reasoned, and are well-articulated. The most impressive thing about Domo is probably the level of power it gives to people who don't know traditional programming languages or…
-
Thanks for the answer, much appreciated. Better than having me spin my wheels on this again. I watched your video, and recommend it to anyone who is interested in this topic. Nice use of your time in lockdown! Not to be a jerk about it, but It seems entirely reasonable to me that Domo could provide a structured x-axis for…

I just noticed that that the Domo Developer Studio Data API does provide a query language for extracting aggregates, and other results, from a DataSet. The docs also mention SQL queries without joins are suppoted: https://developer.domo.com/docs/dev-studio-references/data-api This is not the same a targetting a card, but…
-
As far as I can tell, there is no way to get the results of a card other than viewing the card and manually exporting the results. The cheapest form of "automation" here may be to write a step-by-step procedure for a human, and then get someone to do the work by hand. It's a clerical task, so it shouldn't take the most…
-
The new Pivot Table KPI card sounds like a masterpiece, very exciting. We'll put through a request to trial the beta. Do you know if there's any other way to automate pulling data out of a card? Either now or on the horizon?
-
I just tried out Aaron's four ideas, and they're great! We only have a limited set of users creating DataSets and cards right now, so a couple of the ideas aren't as useful for us yet. But outdated datasets and empty datasets are handy already. I adapted the ideas a bit for our context where I'm most interested in…
-
Thanks Aaron, those are all excellent examples, I'm going to build them all and see what turns up. Since I posted, I've buit a few more cards looking at things like PDP policy status, columns by data type, cards & pages, and a few others. Honestly, none of them are particularly useful yet, but pretty intresting. You…

Thanks! You're kind. I finally got the connector working. I'd been copying-and-pasting all along, but this time it worked. So now I've got an account configured for access to the governance DataSets, and I scheduled nearly all of them to run once a night. What I _don't_ have is a clue as to what is in there. I've always…

Didn't know quite what the spoiler object would do. I was trying to insert a break-clearl-all sort of thing to make the text and images easier to follow. I'm not great at the formatting system used on this forum, clearly.
-
Thanks for the answer. Confirmed, I followed those steps several times yesterday, using copy-and-paste for both the subdomain/trunk name and the key. No joy. I'll check with support.

No, I can't see any good reason, past what you mentioned. Pulling data out of Domo, repackaging it, and then pulling it back into Domo is downright perverse. So even though I posted a sample of how to do just that, I'd not promote the idea. We may have other uses for the data but, right now, we don't. And if Domo adds…
