Overview Page for Participants

Right now, our company has very few editors and a lot of participants that just digest cards. Part of that reason is to avoid anyone messing up cards on pages that are shared with the whole company. For the editors, a lot of us do use the overview page a decent amount; however, the participants can't add cards to their overview, so it is completely empty always for them.

I'm wondering what other companies are doing to handle this situation. From my initial digging, I know we can make the default page of users the "Favorites" page that could be used by participants more. It seems like there is a way with publication groups to hide the overview page (https://dojo.domo.com/discussion/45244/is-it-possible-to-remove-access-to-the-overview-favorites-alert-pages-for-users)

Also we could make more users editors of cards + pages, but I assume there are better workarounds or even good suggestions on ways to avoid issues when doing that.

You can set a different landing page for your users if you're trying to have them log in to not a blank page? https://domohelp.domo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043439093-Setting-the-Landing-Page

  • @mlb I solved this by making directory pages for my users. We have a "Login Page" that is the default for every users. On that page it has some links to other important dashboards/cards as well as links to departmental dashboards. If you create a dashboard and add a text card you can change the card interaction to link to anything in Domo (and even outside of Domo). Here is an example of our welcome page in the Dojo Domo instance Each one of those icon's is a link to something.

  • Have you tried locking all the pages (upper left next to the title is the lock icon) shared with the whole company so that only admins or page owners can add, edit or deleted cards on the page but leaving the Overview open to others to allow them to add cards to it?

But as @mhouston stated you can also use the landing pages to go to everyone's favorites
