Calculating Beast Mode YoY and MoM Type Calculation

Hi all,

I want to calculate a YoY or MoM calculation for each month in which data is available for such comparisons.  I would then like to possibly create a chart showing the trend of my YoY and MoM % changes.

The Example data looks like this and I would like to calculate a column of YoY and MoM and trend it:

Depending on how all of your raw data looks and how you want the chart to look, the simplest solution might be to use the PoP charts offered. If that doesn't work for you, then you will need to create period totals for any agregations that you want to compare in a separate column. For example, if you wanted to compare Jan-15 to Feb-15, you can just create a beast mode to subtract one from the other, but if you wanted to compare all the values for 2015 to the values for 2016, you would need to create a column `Year_Totals` where you would have the total for that year repeated.

Here's an article that's super helpful for creating these kinds of DataFlows: http://knowledge.domo.com?cid=periodoverperiod

  • Thank you guys, I will take a look.  You're right I noticed the YoY (PoP) options in Analyzer. I was I guess looking for the more difficult way, I will explore the DataFlow option to see how dynamic it can be.

    Thanks!!
